The company

The LED Commander GmbH & Co. KG is based in the green heart of Germany. The headquarters is in the state capital of Thuringia, Erfurt, and the development and manufacturing headquarters in the (technologically) advanced university city of Jena. To implement your (light-)technical concept is our bread and butter. LED Commander is by your side, from your initial idea to the finished mass market product. It is of no concern whether it is a vague idea in its beginning or a concept, likewise a comprehensive production layout.

Your individual LED technology is our top priority, from planning to production. Due to many years of cooperation with the lighting industry, common manufacturers in the optical and semiconductor industry, large component distributors, relevant universities, as well as a wide range of electronic manufacturing, we can safely say that “The Commander” is your contact when it comes to LED. From concept, resource selection, electronic and mechanical layout design, prototyping, the assembly, and fitting of circuit boards to product delivery; allow us to make your vision a reality.

History

Our company was founded in the summer of 2010 as a side business (GbR). The goal was to make an offer to the new and emerging LED market at the time. Due to the know-how of the founder Daniel Bohnsack, we introduced our first product shortly after; the radio-controlled RGBW Tablelight.

After acquiring our first customers in 2011 (Thuringian universities), the company was introduced to the market for the first time at a trade fair in 2012. Thanks to the great response from relevant companies in the industry, Mr Bohnsack ventured to transform the business into a completely independent company at the beginning of 2013. A positive trend for our individual products lead to exponential growth in the following years.

In 2015, the new enterprise (GmbH & Co. KG) was founded, the side business was, due to its size, no longer relevant to us. In 2016, new premises had to be rented to keep up with customer demand. We rebranded ourselves in 2017 as LED Commander, with the sole purpose of taking our core business into account.

In 2019, a joint venture was founded with a partner, Jentron GmbH, which lead to our new development and prototyping centre in Jena. Since incorporating, our company relies on an extensive customer base, modern and innovative partners, as well as a profound expertise in the entire market area.
